Wedding family photo list

Build the groupings before the wedding day. Names and a clear order help the photographer and the person gathering relatives move through formals with fewer surprises.

Family photo list builder

One grouping per line. Name each person, then reorder for the easiest shooting flow. Ask the couple before placing separated family members together.

  1. Couple + both families
  2. Couple + each set of parents
  3. Couple + grandparents
  4. Couple + siblings

Allow roughly 13 minutes for 4 groupings (two minutes each plus setup); adjust for travel and mobility.

How to handle divorced parents

Ask the couple which combinations they want. Make separate groupings where needed, identify current partners by name, and avoid assuming anyone should stand together. Keep the list private to the people who need it on the day.

Make the order easy to shoot

Start with large groups and anyone who needs to leave early or has limited mobility. Then peel people away into smaller groupings. Assign a family member who knows the names to gather people while you photograph the current group.

Turn a draft into an approved wedding plan

Collect the couple's answers, build the timeline, and send a version they can approve in writing.
